Description of the visit:
Educational path to discover alternative ways to create clean energy, respecting the surrounding environment with hydropower and photovoltaics.
What are the dams for? How are they built? What effects do they have on the microclimate and the environment? What other hydraulic works are connected to them? A tour of the river basin of the Alento river will illustrate the modern multi-purpose use of water and introduce the world of hydraulic engineering. Visiting the large Alento Dam and the one Cannalonga, the Omignano hydroelectric plant, in addition to a photovoltaic plant, will include the technical and structural differences of the plumbing systems, and their strategic function for the development of the economy of a territory and of the communities that live there. On the occasion of the International Decade 2018-2028 "Water for sustainable development" proclaimed by the UN, this path is a significant opportunity to reflect on future scenarios and choices before which you, young generations, will be called to confront with.

- visit to the Alento Dam (DETAILS)
- visit of the photovoltaic system at the Fiume Alento Oasis
- lunch stop
- visit of the Cannalonga Dam
- Visit at the Omignano hydroelectric power station (bus transport by the school)
